Chat
It seems many people doing SSK11 are OLDSCHOOL ICQ users... and have noticed the fad changes from ICQ back in the late 1990's to MSN in the early 2000's to facebook and tweeter in the current era...
Different people have different reasons for moving programs, most are because friends move...
But what starts the wave?
In the old ICQ days the waves begun because of Hacks and Trogan backdoors left by the unsecure ICQ code... for anyone with secure info on their machines it wasnt worth the risk and as they went to "perceived" more secure programs, so did their friends...
Today its a verry different story...
Most users today arnt aware or arnt concerned about trojans and hacks so much anymore...
Nor are they concerned that every peice of information on the internet, and even on your HDD once your on the internet, is all freely acessable by intelligence agencies and hackers...
Far more concerned about "where are their friends"
Social networking sites have far exceeded just general communication, and yet the old communication networks are still kicking...
Or are they?
Only in the last 5 years have the big internet changes been made in the major part of the internet community... mostly thats because of the ability of people to use higher GFX
Either for photoes and Video, or online environments and MMO's
Its only been the last few years that the older V2 sites and games are closing down...
V1 1960's - 1990's was purly text base origination of the net "remote connecting and small private communications" even the mmo-online environment began at the end of V1 with games having a world like construction, and this was because of GFX upgrades...
V2 1990's - 1996 was the age of Gui's "windows" and real 3d "Wolfenstein 3D" where programs like ICQ finally had the foundation to come forth "Gui Text, or user friendly", and the first real 3d online environments started to unfold with the combination of 3D environment with global text network
V3 1996 - 2002 was the AGE of MMO's, GPU and hardware space enhancements allowing the GFX to make it finally past the basics of Slow processing, and limited space.... this allowed for almost life like Digital animation on the fly for the first time "The birth of real MMO's Masivly Multiplayer Online", it also allowed the normal user to start beginning to use DIGITAL photography, video... Finally the internet had the capabilities that previously was restricted to studios , individual creativity and intergration began a new era where most people started to see where technology was going....
V4 2002 - 2009 Mobile Phone merges with the internet... a Mobile phone was becomming a PC, Games and Chat clients were intergrating functions like text and even VOIP "Voice over IP" at the same time new 3D environments were becomming Semi Real, GFX were upgraded so much one could see the individual hairs on a persons head, or the sweat drip down their face in an on the fly 3d Environment... During this time Ventrilo and Teamspeak came in to play where people could talk to anyone in the world for FREE over the internet, SKYP serveces both normal home phone connections and internet plans, and has a free to use internet program that allows you to call other skype users FREE using only your internet allotted usage...
The age of internet freedom was here... no more extreeme costs for mobile phones, or the internet... every man and his dog could be online... Chatting all day... or be emersed in an environment almost like the holo deck on startrek... Almost...
So its 2009 and whats in hold for Chat...
Well in 2008 we had the Apple Iphone, and now the Iphone 2... complete with gyroscopic mercuty switchs, and GPS "tracking your every move listening and watching what your doing even when the phones off"
http://www.techworld.com/mobility/news/index.cfm?NewsID=7425
"yeah just receiving a message allows someone to hack your phone and from then on listen in, see your camera footage, and even search your data on your phone memory, remotly from any pc..."
Also all phone service providers, and manufacturers, including the Iphone have to record your GPS location and save in the NSA-ASIS databse
The plans people saw were comming in the 1990's "$20 for unlimited internet phone etc per month" the reason telstra was privatised... is now almost apon us...
New technology is going far futher...
Implanting the brain with a perma link to be online and communicate, interact with door locks lights, the pc, or even the internet without a pc... download music all via brain activity...
When this combines with Nanite intergrating, not only will a new boom happen, but GFX is also on the verge of artificially creating a 3D environment undestinguishable from the real world...
V5 2020+ will be almost like the matrix and will be here during the next 10-20 years...
The creativity potential of the human race, and the whole way Jobs are treated and allocated will change dramatically as a single person will be able to solo multiple factories opperations at once remotly while multitasking other real world activities...
Doctors will be able to contact injured patients and intergrate with a nanite microscopic robots to do opperations and healing procedures "maby even remotly as well"
Letalone thinking along the lines of entertainment or defence...

Email Lists
-
What are the pros and cons of email lists versus discussion boards?
-
Are there certain kinds of communication or purposes more suited to one than the other?
Discussion boards are like the local pub in the suburb of topic X
If you want to just hang out and catch up , you go check out the discussion board...
If their is urgent news "a bush fire is coming" you contact everyone ASAP using the phone book or email list...
If you got big news and go to the pub at the wrong time of days no ones there and you news falls on def ears, and slowly gets picked up... however if you have no news and look at the phone book its not going to do you any good... "joining the Email list, phone book will help others contact you if their is urgent news on topic X"
Log on to a discussion board when everyone's asleep to find out the news works... but wont get much of a 2 way discussion untill people wake up... checking ones email will also find out the news but even if people are awake brings no discussion...
It really comes down to one of 4 views, the first 2 are obvious the second 2 are less obvious
Combining Intent "to learn or share" with Justification "Beleif or True Knowing" the 4 are obvious and make the use of Discussion boards or Email lists just as obvious...
1 have factual info your knowledgeable about want to share, "SHARER"
mailing list best, discussion board good
A teacher, a Child who just learnt something, or anyone who just saw a BUSHFIRE comming to the town, all has TRUTH TO SHARE
2 have no info want to catch up on any missed info, "SEEKER"
discussion board good, mailing list good
Bored people, or people in the habit of seeking TRUTH are seekers of info...
3 have info want to discuss "QUESTIONER" "unsure maby or still have questions, or not quiet got the whole picture" discussion is best, mailing list is arrogant "if your unsure best not to mass email ignorance around"
This is like the child seeker whos aware of a topic but dosnt understand it yet, Questioning is GREAT and the key to learning, however dont pester EVERYONE with mass emails, its like crying wolf, hastle the wrong people with stupidity all the time, when you finally have something good to share with a mass email it will probably be ignored...
4 have no info, want to vent, or share dreams and beleifs, with no essence of fact or knowlidge
" BELEAVER " also known online as Zelots who preach beleif and ignorance and have contempt for facts, These people ignore truth decency or facts, and usually dont even care about the email topic or group their using the list from "their is no difference bere to the Zelot preachers, or the Teli marketing who call your phone, they just use easy obtainable lists of what they presume are suckers "as so many fall for their spell" and they soon start beleiving in their own Delusion...
Like the preists who compiled lists of inquisition for those not agreeing in the beleif of a FLAT WORLD... to the teli marketer who got you name and number from some other BELEIF pusher who got you to beleive you needed something they sold you, and got a tick in the suckers box next to your name...
1. What information about a user's email, the origin of a message, and the path it took, can you glean from an email message?
Origin will show the "mail server" or in some cases the Original location the message was compiled-sent online
Path will be shown , sometimes showing all IP's other times just showing origination/Server/ or main hops "depending on filter and server the mail originator uses"
Note : all intelligence agencies, and people trying to mask their ID, use advanced email forwarding, even with encryption changes to bounce an email to you from a different location to the data the email gives... and stop the location from being tracked back, just like a hacker uses a hacked box to launch a script attack from, people use mail routers who will receive then forward the mail for you acting like it came from the forwarded location, intelligence and military use encryption changes on each change over so its almost impossible to trace "and defiantly impossible to trace on the fly..."
2. In what cases would you find it useful to use the 'cc', 'bcc' and 'reply all functions of email?
CC is used when you want to send a dated and informed a copy of your email to person X while also informing person Y when it was sent, and informing person X that person Y got a copy...
When sending off important information to the govt, leagle, or even newspapers council, one may wish also to inform the media, or a solicitor to let them no this email has a papertrail with witnes's
BCC is when you want to send to person X without person X knowing your making a copy of the email record with person Y "or your own backup email server" it will send a copy of the dated and informed "person X's email" to person Y
Maby you want to reply to someone while informing the authorities, or their competitor, or the media without informing them your leaking the info of the corrispondance....
3. In what ways can you ensure that an attachment you send will be easily opened by the receiver? Use simple non specific formats ASCII
4. What sorts of filters or rules do you have set up, and for what purpose?
None...
5. How have you organised the folder structure of your email and why?
For now ive only added in SSK11 folder...
Their dosnt seem to be a big need to split up emails to much at this current level... i use a lot more folders on my usuall emails tho and will add more as needed

Ping Command
Pinging 134.7.179.56 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 134.7.179.56: bytes=32 time=78ms TTL=108
Reply from 134.7.179.56: bytes=32 time=79ms TTL=108

Reply from 134.7.179.56: bytes=32 time=77ms TTL=108
Ping statistics for 134.7.179.56:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 77ms, Maximum = 79ms, Average = 78ms
A lot less hops, and a lot faster MS without using an overseas connection
Inside Australia ADSL-pings should be between 80-140, and they jump to 250+ as soon as u go outside the country, With Fiber Optics 7 ping is possible within the CBD
Unless ones playing an Massivly Multyplayer Online Game which may experience up to 300+ active people all using twitch based speed controls with time stacking, interactive environmentally sinked key strokes "where the average user is making 2-5 commands + movement in a 3d environment + awareness of whats happening in that invironment over all + the usually communications" most internet users are unlikly to notice the difference between the web speed one day to the next, or when moving locations "unless dialup" if their interaction with the web isnt dependant on sub second interactions.
then Pings below 20 are favorable... as their is a noticable advantage "if the servers can handle it"
However most people will find a ping in the range of 20-80 verry nice within Australia and wont notice their lag untill they run across someone with sub 20 in a sub second online environment which is uncommon for most users "altho far less uncommon as it was 10 years ago"
Its disappointing that once one leaves the Australian border the connection adds noticeable lag with a bounce to 250+ and a 1/2 second+ delay with synchronization
Ping Trace Route

Round trip time to 134.7.179.56: 253 ms
Average time over 10 pings: 255.3 ms
This is handy to find out if the internet is active or damaged "like a hard line is severed"
Its also an important tool for gamers and streamers who like to no when a few milliseconds or in some cases seconds of lag can mean the difference between a smooth fun interaction of a jumpy laggy annoying time...
Usually the first step in trouble shooting internet based connection problems is first to check the ping - Rout to insure 1 its working and 2 its within usual performance ranges and hops
FTP
I dont endorse this statement, but my Uni Task makes me post it lol
FTP "File Transfer Protocol" is a great tool...
File sharing as a whole is what makes the web for most users "the distribution of knowledge!"
While other applications "games" and web based info seem to artificially give the web life and substance, the essence of the web is really the knowledge sharing freely between millions and billions of consciousness's instantaneously simultaneously that is the essence of what makes the web
FTP is the 21st century answer for a Library, From News, to Relaxation - Entertainment, and for mass broadcasted communication archives, Basically any information put in to writing, music, video, and picture from all over the world can be accessed like a local library or archive
Lets hope the 22nd Century brings total freedom and integration of all information
PS. Why can you BORROW a DVD, a CD, MP3, BOOK, Article, or even a neighbors lawnmower with an agreement to return it at no charge? to increase ones conscious awareness a free society embraces the sharing of information and technology? however in todays time Copyright laws and Govt prosicution has invaded our right to Loan things to each other at an ever encroaching manner...
And some inforamtion is restricted from the public alltogeather... What is the difference from loaning a book from the council or uni library, compared to loaning it from a stranger online on the other side of the globe? or watching news that isn't sanctioned and edited by the public relations exerts of the mainstream media? the difference is the controlers of society can no longer restrict the information and resources you have acess to, no longer able to totally controle propaganda and public relations indoctrination because of the freedom of the internet to share unsanctioned information online has resulted in many GOVT laws and leglislation passed and being passed to take away these liberties and rights you and all human beings are were and always should be eligable bfore your even conceived!

Telnet
Ouch My EYES!
Telnet was a stepping stone in the foundation of the modern web, initially used as a way to remotely give commands or receive access data, however because of its lack of Encryption or security its mostly faded away...
With memories of the old DOS days and Screens that burnt ones eyes deforming vision of millions of people during the 80's and early 90's flooding back from the basic Text format menu's and commands
i can only say its a great step forward to escape telnet and as technology progresses and people look back at the old horse and cart days or sailing ships and see the technological progression made there... and while some die-hards still have a horse and cart, or a sailing ship others still continue telnet...
p.s. dont install "telnet server" on your computer its a free backdoor to hackers... and be aware that everything sent via telnet is unencrypted including login and password and is easilly intercepted

Top 5 Tips for new Bloggers
Tip 2 INTEGRITY FOLLOWS YOU. Always remember anyone and everyone can access save and bring out to use info you publish online, its a part of your integrity and your actions comments and behaviour will follow you for the rest of your life, act like a war criminal and you will be remembered as one even after the wars over!
Tip 3 Whos profiting and what alterior motives. Know who made, started, runs, finances, records, monators, your online info "google-utube-blogger shares all info, backs up all info, edits, restricts, bans and compiles all info, stats, etc for inteligence agencies and private corporations... you agree in the terms of service for them to market you and your info...
Tip 4 Info or EGO? Decide if your bloggs just for a specific task, or going to be a splurging conglomerate of the internet-extraverted who falling for the illusionary inanimity pertrayed by the founders of the Pols and other marketing info gathering consumer analizing public relations monstrosity that even freud and bernays didnt amagin the extent of the tenticals the internet has infultraited when they began a revamp of propaganda-renamed public relations by giving the consumer the illusion of being catered for to get them to GIVE out their information to catigorize manipulate and controle them "the people" like instinctual sheep,
now people on tweeter tweet evey thought, emotion, act, event in their life, and new govt leglislation allows psychiatrists to medicate them, detain them without trial or proof or test, based on that info they give over freely!
Tip 5 Internet Identity! there are ways to protect ones self from the average internet user from finding out your identity, however for an advanced user, govt agency or marketer, anyone whos aware of internet tracing, ip logging etc will be able to find out your identity reguardless of how well you think you covered it up or disassociated with the identity, everything you post logs unique ID numbers, every website you acess your ISP logs, every bit of information you send through the internet can be traced, be aware your not really using a mask or fake id name when dealing with the powerpushers of internet communications technology
