Reflective Questions
1. What information about a user's email, the origin of a message, and the path it took, can you glean from an email message?
Origin will show the "mail server" or in some cases the Original location the message was compiled-sent online
Path will be shown , sometimes showing all IP's other times just showing origination/Server/ or main hops "depending on filter and server the mail originator uses"
Note : all intelligence agencies, and people trying to mask their ID, use advanced email forwarding, even with encryption changes to bounce an email to you from a different location to the data the email gives... and stop the location from being tracked back, just like a hacker uses a hacked box to launch a script attack from, people use mail routers who will receive then forward the mail for you acting like it came from the forwarded location, intelligence and military use encryption changes on each change over so its almost impossible to trace "and defiantly impossible to trace on the fly..."
2. In what cases would you find it useful to use the 'cc', 'bcc' and 'reply all functions of email?
CC is used when you want to send a dated and informed a copy of your email to person X while also informing person Y when it was sent, and informing person X that person Y got a copy...
When sending off important information to the govt, leagle, or even newspapers council, one may wish also to inform the media, or a solicitor to let them no this email has a papertrail with witnes's
BCC is when you want to send to person X without person X knowing your making a copy of the email record with person Y "or your own backup email server" it will send a copy of the dated and informed "person X's email" to person Y
Maby you want to reply to someone while informing the authorities, or their competitor, or the media without informing them your leaking the info of the corrispondance....
3. In what ways can you ensure that an attachment you send will be easily opened by the receiver? Use simple non specific formats ASCII
4. What sorts of filters or rules do you have set up, and for what purpose?
None...
